PITTSBURGH (AP) — Dick Groat, a two-sport star who went from All-American guard in basketball to a brief stint in the NBA to ultimately an All-Star shortstop and the 1960 National League MVP while playing baseball for his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates, has died. He was 92.Groat’s family said in a statement that he died Thursday at UMPC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh due to complications from a stroke.Groat, who was from the Swissvale neighborhood just east of Pittsburgh’s downtown, starred at Duke in basketball and baseball in the early 1950s, earning All-American honors in both. DENVER (KDVR) — After two people were found dead inside the American Elm restaurant over the weekend, the office of the medical examiner has released the cause of death.Emerall Vaughn-Dahler and Ignacio Gutierrez Morales were killed in a shooting inside the restaurant located on the corner of 38th Avenue and Raleigh Street in the West Highlands.On Thursday, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed Vaughn-Dahler was killed as the result of multiple gunshot wounds and her death was ruled a homicide. (KDVR) -- The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash that involved a school bus and a tanker carrying oil on Thursday.The crash was reported around 7:25 a.m. near Highway 52 and Weld County Road 65.CSP said there were 20 kids on the school bus at the time of the crash, but none of them were injured. Rock-throwing suspect ‘had stupid ideas,’ says teen who knows him The driver of the tanker was injured and was flown to the hospital on a medical helicopter.The tanker was carrying oil and a small leak was reported.CSP did not say which school the bus was from. MOAB, Utah (ABC4) — A 48-year-old man from Colorado was reportedly found dead in Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah, on Monday, April 24. According to a press release from the National Park Service, staff at the Hans Flat Ranger Station received a report from a visitor saying there was an unoccupied vehicle in the Maze District on Monday at about 10 a.m. Gold nugget over 11 pounds found in Colorado A search and rescue team was promptly deployed to search for the owner of the vehicle. The team, with the help of the Wayne County Sherriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety helicopter crew, was able to locate a deceased individual near the vehicle.The victim has been identified as a 48-year-old man from Nederland.
