Ferdinand Porsche was born in 1875, died in 1951 and in between led a very interesting 75-year life. He created and manufactured the first gas-electric hybrid called the Lohner-Porsche in 1900 and built them until 1905. He attended some college but never completed a formal engineering education. He was a Czechoslovakian citizen until 1934, when either Adolf Hitler or Joseph Goebbels made him a naturalized German citizen.Related ArticlesLocal News | Me & My Car: Martinez man keeping his ’37 Buick in state of ‘arrested decay’ Local News | Me & My Car: 1927 Ford Model T ‘meant to be’ Fremont man’s Local News | Me & My Car: ’57 Chevy 150 could easily become a show model In 1934, Hitler awarded a contract to Porsche to design and build “the people’s car” or Volkswagen. Trump's “Final Battle”

Former President Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally at Dayton International Airport on Nov. 7, 2022, in Vandalia, Ohio. Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty ImagesSince Donald Trump left the White House, he’s been developing some new material that reached its apogee in a speech he delivered soon after his indictment for mishandling classified documents. Take a listen to this part, as the former president of the United States — and current frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination — tells us that “at the end of the day, either the Communists destroy America, or we destroy the Communists.”At another point in the same speech, Trump proclaimed, “This is the final battle. With you at my side … we will drive out the globalists, we will cast out the communists.”He’s made similar remarks on many occasions. Here he is haranguing us about the Marxists and communists: Screenshot: The InterceptLast November he was musing about how “the problem we have is that we are headed toward communism. … ...

La revuelta en Rusia terminó, pero persisten las dudas sobre el poder de Putin

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 13:07:34 GMT

GLENDALE, Ariz. (WSVN) – A German shepherd was found scared and stuck in a canal in Glendale, Arizona. Neighbors called for help when they spotted the dog paddling back and forth trying to find a way out.“As soon as I heard the call I was like well ‘I’m gonna go to it’ because I have like seven or eight leashes in my bag,” said Glendale Police Officer William Downey. When Downey arrived, he said they first tried to call the dog, but then his fellow officer Eric Sorenson jumped in for the rescue.“Eric, he starts getting his vest off, his gun belt off and I’m like ‘I got these leashes, we’ll see if we can leash it,'” Downey said. But the dog was nervous and nothing convinced him to swim to the officer until he was offered a sweet snack. “I’m like, ‘I got muffins in the car my wife’s pumpkin muffins’, so I run over get the muffin, take the paper off of it,” he continued. The NBA will host the 2023 draft Thursday night, ringing in one of the most anticipated nights in recent league history as fans and teams await a potentially game-changing first-overall pick. Here are six things to know about this year’s draft.1. Who will go No. 1?This is the easiest answer in this year’s draft. This is one of the most-hyped drafts in recent history for one reason only: French 19-year-old Victor Wembanyama, who has been touted as the clear-cut first overall pick in the 2023 draft.Wembanyama offers a unique meld of talents — a sprawling eight-foot wingspan combined with fluid ball handling and an effortless range from behind the 3-point arc. He went pro at age 14 and began receiving high-level draft interest at 16 as he made a name for himself in the top French league. While Wembanyama’s towering 7-foot-3 height creates a clear advantage around the rim, his slender frame has been a source of concern for his durability against the physical compet...

Russian mercenaries’ short-lived revolt could have long-term consequences for Putin

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 13:07:34 GMT

A short-lived revolt by a rebellious Russian mercenary commander ended with his troops beating a retreat, but the extraordinary challenge to President Vladimir Putin’s two-decade hold on power could have long-term consequences for his rule and his war in Ukraine.Putin’s image as a tough leader had already been badly bruised by the Ukraine war, which has dragged on for 16 months and claimed huge numbers of Russian troops. Saturday’s march toward Moscow by forces under the command of his onetime protege, Yevgeny Prigozhin, exposed further weaknesses, analysts said.It also meant some of the best forces fighting for Russia in Ukraine were pulled from that battlefield: Prigozhin’s own Wagner troops and Chechen ones sent to stop them. After calling for an armed rebellion aimed at ousting Russia’s defense minister, Prigozhin and his fighters appeared to seize control of the Russian military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don that oversee fighting in Ukraine. They then advanced toward...

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — China and Russia pledged to strengthen cooperation on Sunday, a day after a brief rebellion by a Russian mercenary commander against Kremlin fizzled out.Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko made a previously unannounced visit to Beijing, where he met with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang to discuss “international and regional issues of common concern,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on its website. It was unclear whether Rudenko’s visit had been planned or was in response to a rebellion on Saturday during which Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of private mercenary army Wagner Group, ordered his troops to march on Moscow in the greatest challenge to President Vladimir Putin in his more than two decades in power. Prigozhin later on Saturday reached a deal with the Kremlin to go into exile and sounded the retreat.China has not officially commented on the crisis in Russia.Russia and China, while not formal allies, have maintained close ties throughout Moscow’...
